Blondies

These tasty dessert bars are an excellent variation of classic brownies and the perfect treat for those like Julia who prefer vanilla to chocolate.

STEP ONE – Preparations

  1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F.
  2. Line an 8×8-inch metal pan with 2 pieces of aluminum foil and lightly spray with canola spray.
  3. Get out a medium bowl and a large bowl.
  4. Set up a cooling rack.

STEP TWO – Make the Batter

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
ΒΎ cup all-purpose flour
ΒΎ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
Β½ teaspoon fine sea salt
Β½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In the large bowl, microwave the butter for 40 seconds and let cool briefly.
  2. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In the medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and chocolate chips.
  4. Add the dry to the wet ingredients and stir to incorporate without overmixing.

STEP THREE – Bake the Blondies

  1. Spoon the batter into the pan and evenly distribute with a spatula.
  2. Bake for 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Cool the blondies on the cooling rack for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from the pan and cool for another 10 minutes.
  5. Cut into 9 squares and enjoy!
